Features of PAL-V Liberty
The PAL-V Liberty has two distinct attributes. First one is the lift created by a wind-powered rotor, making the PAL-V Liberty float in the air. The PAL-V Liberty is the easiest flying vehicle on the market it using the gyroplane principle. The second one is the three-wheel design and the soft tilting motion in curves.
Easy Switch from flying mode to driving mode
The dual mode vehicle is only genuinely flexible if you can switch modes quickly and easily. The Liberty delivers this with a Semi-Automatic Conversion System (SACS) that takes only 3-5 minutes to switch from flying mode to driving mode and vice versa.
During taking off, the pilot merely pulls the tail and unfolds the rotor blades and propeller. While driving the propeller is store in the body for protection. The blades are stored on top to protect them. After landing, the pilot simply pushes the tailback in and folds the rotary blades and propeller.
Two Engine Design
PAL-V Liberty uses two aviation certified engines to deliver the required power. In an unlikely event that one fails, the other engine is still operational. The PAL-V Liberty will have less power, but enough to fly to a very small landing spot in a very large area to land safely.
Landing can still be fully controlled with a low ground speed. Compared to a similar small fixed wing aircraft or helicopter the PAL-V has between 40 and 250 times more options for a safe landing when an engine fails.
In the case of engine failure, the gyroplane can be landed normally in a very small area equivalent to a tennis court. Landing without an engine can be done with +/- 30 km/h (18mph) ground speed on a very small spot (30 meters or 100ft). This makes an emergency landing, in combination with the unique double redundant drive train of the PAL-V LIBERTY, multiple time safer when compare with an aircraft or helicopter.
Take Off and landing
As per law take-off and landing of flying machines will always require space. This flying car needs a space for take-off measuring about 90-200 by 20 meters (100ft-650ft by 60ft) without surrounding obstacles. In practice, all small airstrips, aerodromes, glider sites and/or ultralight airfields will suffice. The PAL-V LIBERTY can operate from either concrete or grass airstrips.
The noise will be comparable to a small fixed wing plane. It will be much less than a helicopter.
